Flight Opportunities Project Support
 
MEIS, an Astrion subsidiary, partners with NASA Ames via the PESS contract where we supply project and engineering support services for space flight, aeronautical and research projects.  We are currently supporting NASA STMD Flight Opportunities program which rapidly demonstrates promising technologies for space exploration, discovery, and the expansion of space commerce through suborbital testing with industry flight providers. The program matures capabilities needed for NASA missions and commercial applications while strategically investing in the growth of the U.S. commercial spaceflight industry.

What you will do...

The individual will be supporting the following:

  • Develop new customers for the Flight Opportunities program.
  • Interface with potential customers, describing our program and finding ways in which the program can support their efforts through flights, other opportunities within NASA, conferences, contacts, etc.
  • Interface with STMD decision makers such as Principal Technologists, System Capability Leadership Team leads, and Domain Formulation leads to assess relative priority of flight testing opportunities.
  • Develop rationale for funding decisions including technical and programmatic factors
  • Provide technology tracking, including information on technology paths, future plans, and infusions into operation.
  • Contribute to post-flight debrief meetings – working with technology developers to understand results, disseminate information from the flight test, and find other opportunities.
  • Support the TechLeap Challenge opportunity by assisting in the development of the technical guidelines, development of judges, and recommendations for funding.
  • Provide recommendations on opportunities/barriers to enable greater infusion into NASA missions and/or further development of STMD invested space technologies/concepts/activities.
  • Provide analysis on strategic approaches, method or tactics to improve the leveraging, partnering and/or effectiveness of STMD's commercial activities.
  • Provide Support documentation (i.e. program reporting, presentations, communication products, etc.) that captures, tracks and communicates Flight Opportunities program objectives, strategy, and implementation across NASA programs.
  • Provide status briefing to STMD Flight Opportunities leadership, including new customer opportunities, technology tracking, and status of ongoing flight opportunities partnerships as required.

Skills you will need...

  • At least ten years’ experience in a technology role 
  • Experience with NASA projects and missions 
  • Extensive experience with business development, customer success, and working in matrixed environments
