Astrion/Axient is looking for a Software Engineer to support The Missile Defense Agency’s Compass Program located in beautiful Colorado Springs.

We are looking for a team-oriented member with a background that includes Programming, Cross Domain Solution Activities, System Administrator Experience (familiarity, but certs aren’t required), and Software and System Integration.

What you will do...

This position offers the Developer a unique opportinity to work in an elevated classified environment on cutting-edge MDA technology. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, self-motivated and flexible in a dynamic envrironmet where programming, development, analysis and test are matrixed together.   

  • Collaborates with other software developers to analyze, estimate, design and implement features and user stories.
  • Works with the engineering lead in deriving technical details from functional requirements and scripting tools to refine system efficiencies that support in-depth analysis.
  • Participates in iteration planning meetings with testers and Subject Matter Experts (SME), recurring stand ups, and technical coordination meetings for reporting issues, planning, and providing status.
  • Works with SMEs and project management in analyzing new functional requirements while providing feasibility assessments and level of effort.
  • Works hand-in-hand with software architectural owners to ensure all development meets architectural vision and system designs.
  • Contributes to technical design documentation and maintenance of the software.
  • Other duties when needed upon request from management.

Skills you will need...

  • Current DoD Security Clearance: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • A Bachelor’s Degreee in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related technical discipline plus 6+ years of experience or a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related technical discipline plus 4+ years of experience
  • Experience with software development using C++, LINUX, and Shell Scripting
  • Experience with software development in Linux and/or Windows environments

DESIRED QUALIFICTIONS / SKILLS

  • Familiarity with RHEL
  • Familiarity with Python, Pearl, Git, MATLAB, SIMDIS, Microsoft Office
  • System Administrator Experience
  • Desire to work in a DoD, Team-Oriented environment
