Axient is seeking a Senior Engineer for support to a US Space Force contract under the SSC Space Systems Integration Office, in El Segundo, CA.

What you will do...

Support to Government customer in El Segundo, CA for systems engineering and integration of Space Force projects for the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) to a variety of tasks and projects, to include but not limited to:

  • Evaluation and assessment of future space and missile Systems of Systems (SoS) and Families of Systems (FoS) at the cross- enterprise level, linking materiel solutions to warfighter capability needs in new combinations.
  • Perform assessment of technology threats and gaps
  • Provide cross-enterprise architecting analysis, engineering best practices, and enterprise level integration to providing highly integrated space enterprise capabilities to the warfighter and rapid decision quality support for key modernization or recapitalization decisions.
  • Create and synchronize the enterprise system-of-systems policy and processes to support Space Systems Command mission across multiple space programs.
  • Assist government managers in the management of projects and taskings by developing and tracking performance and schedule baselines
  • Support Govnerment efforts with respect Space Industrial Base SIB) inlcduing:
    • Drafting presentations regarding the Space Industrial Base to brief SSC leadership
    • Drafting Perfect Slides requesting funding to support both the SIBWG and SSC PEOs
    • Assit in the  development of a strategy when it comes to engagement with the following entities:
      • US Government Agencies with Space Industrial Base equities
      • Universities 
      • Small Businesses
      • Conferences / Consortiums
    • Managing and scheduling engagements on Government lead's behalf
    • Reviewing analysis reports from USG agencies with Space Industrial Base equities aka reading NRO/NASA/NOAA reports on industrial base and supply chain risks/issues
    • Capturing data about companies that are at risk and currently supporting SSC programs.
      • Development of RFIs to assist with capturing feedback from Primes, Subcontractors and Supply Chain to identify risks and opportunities for investment (funding, R&D, training?)
      • Linking small company dependencies with national security space acquisition priorities
    • Managing Space Industrial Base database on MS Teams by collecting and organizing the following:
      • Pertinent studies related to the Space Industrial Base
      • Project Management Artifacts (road show briefs, mission/vision/priorities/management plans, POAMs, Talking Papers, task generation, POM / UFR perfect slides, etc.)
      • Engagements / Minutes from Key Activities
      • Documenting key recommendations and decisions via MFRs

Skills you will need...

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 15 years of combined industry, FFRDC and Federal Government experience with focus on Space Acquisition.
  • The individual must have successfully interacted with SMEs to find creative solutions, both technical and contractual, to meet high visibility goal/objectives on time, and with very limited Government oversight.
  • Must be able to independently convey the Government’s position correctly in all settings.
  • Must be able to perform all duties independently and take initiative that are in line with the Government’s intent.
  • The individual must excel at innovatively interpreting and effectively apply acquisition regulations, policy, law and guidance with demonstrated results.
  • Acitve TS/SCI required
