Axient is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWTL) testing and development at the Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF) on Eglin AFB, FL.
What you will do...
Assist in the development of prototypes to test and refine before submitting for mass production.
Work closely with test engineers and technicians to ensure designs are feasible, can be routed appropriately and efficiently, and aligns with project requirements.
Review and inspect designs for accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Address design issues and make necessary adjustments to improve functionality and manufacturability.
Identify opportunities for design improvements and implementing changes to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Stay up to date with advancements in technology and industry trends and integrating new technologies and methodologies into design processes.
Provide technical specifications for procurement of components and subsystems to meet task requirements.
Create and maintain documentation for designs, including technical manuals, assembly instructions, and maintenance guides.
Skills you will need...
Produce detailed technical drawings and blueprints that specify dimensions, materials, and manufacturing processes that meet ASME/ISO standards.
Be proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Inventor to create and layout 3D models of mechanical components and systems, such as chassis, mounts, and boards for RF equipment.
Have a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices, including knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
Be able to determine appropriate materials for parts and assemblies based on factors such as strength, weight, and cost.
Bachelors or Masters Degree in applicable discipline
