Axient is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWTL) testing and development at the Guided Weapons Evaluation Facility (GWEF) on Eglin AFB, FL.

What you will do...

  • Assist in the development of prototypes to test and refine before submitting for mass production.
  • Work closely with test engineers and technicians to ensure designs are feasible, can be routed appropriately and efficiently, and aligns with project requirements.
  • Review and inspect designs for accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Address design issues and make necessary adjustments to improve functionality and manufacturability.
  • Identify opportunities for design improvements and implementing changes to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in technology and industry trends and integrating new technologies and methodologies into design processes.
  • Provide technical specifications for procurement of components and subsystems to meet task requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation for designs, including technical manuals, assembly instructions, and maintenance guides.

Skills you will need...

  • Produce detailed technical drawings and blueprints that specify dimensions, materials, and manufacturing processes that meet ASME/ISO standards.
  • Be proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Inventor to create and layout 3D models of mechanical components and systems, such as chassis, mounts, and boards for RF equipment.
  • Have a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices, including knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Be able to determine appropriate materials for parts and assemblies based on factors such as strength, weight, and cost.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in applicable discipline
  • Minmum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Top Secret Clearance
