Axient is seeking a Communications and Information Systems Project Management Engineer to join our team, supporting our customer on-site at Langley AFB, VA.

What you will do...

  • Provide communications and information systems program management, advice and expertise for communications initiatives and projects.
  • Provide communications and information systems program management, advice, recommended prioritization, and expertise for Military Construction (MILCON) and Facility, Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) as required and attend associated meetings. 
  • Provide relevant input and provide a recommended prioritization for communications initiatives and projects. 
  • Be able to articulate the needs of communications squadrons and provide advocacy and recommendations on those projects, clearly and concisely.
  • Attend various meetings via TDY or virtually. Coordinate Quarterly Base level Engineering and Installation (E&I) teleconferences as required. 
  • Provide functional validation and prioritization of communications projects (as required, including relevant construction projects) for communications squadron facilities. 
  • Evaluate, document, and brief on base communications and information technology plans, initiatives, and projects to determine communications and information systems impacts and shortfalls.  As required, evaluate unfunded submissions and apply Air Force Level communications risk management matrices to prioritize all unfunded requirements. 
  • As required, provide Communications O&M Infrastructure E&I Work Plan requirements extracted from CIPS.  As required, consolidate E&I Infrastructure requirements and initiatives for Work Plan utilizing the AF E&I Framework mission impact matrix and prioritize future year O&M infrastructure requirements for funding approval.  
  • Evaluate alternative communications infrastructure requirements and services to ensure operational requirements implementation by the most cost-effective means. 
  • Provide base communications projects, initiatives, and E&I project status updates on all current and future year projects and plans.  
  • As required, assist with bed-down requirements when the customer requires E&I resources, in coordination with Basing representatives. 
  • As required, validate communications E&I infrastructure requirements submitted by the Cyberspace System Integrator (CSI) for funds through Subject Matter Experts and the AF E&I Framework.
  • Coordinate with staff and other Air Force (AF) agencies to include Air National Guard (ANG) Total Force Group (TFG) and E&I Squadrons (EIS) if necessary to identify proper candidates for ANG/TFG workload and on provisioning of organic E&I services for bed down of new missions. 
  • Work closely with Base Communications Squadrons, CSIs, and staff to ensure implementation of the Communications O&M Infrastructure Work Plan and other communications and technology projects/initiatives if necessary.

Skills you will need...

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field required OR 5 years directly relevant experience (ending within the last five years) in addition to and to include the experience as listed below in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 1-year relevant experience to include:
  • Experience working with/on higher headquarters staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to address/converse with and brief Air Force General Officers and Senior Civilians.
  • Experience demonstrating project management skills, ending within the last five years.
  • Must have an active and transferrable DoD security clearance at the Secret level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.
