SEG supports the US Navy and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) by performing trade studies, design prototyping, and analysis of radars, EO/IR sensors, RF seeker systems, electronic warfare systems, and weapon systems.  For this position, we are seeking an experienced RF Seeker engineer to support the development of a digital representation of the RF seeker for inclusion in deliverable simulations to our government customers and end-users.  The ideal candidate has 6 to 10 years of RF seeker systems engineering experience including RF seeker physical design, signal processing design and analyses, and seeker testing, and an active clearance. The position is based in Columbia, MD but may require on-site support at customer locations.

What you will do...

The candidate will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, supporting a team of engineers and software developers to design and develop simulation solutions, and demonstrating that capability to our government customers and other critical stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and evaluating critical design points, such as sensor type, antenna design, and power requirements, and relating these to physical design of the seeker.
  • Designing and documenting the RF sensor concept of operations, including the modes of operation and their corresponding timelines, the operating frequencies and pulse repetition frequencies, and scan pattern and waveform selection.
  • Implementing the signal processing algorithms, including detection, track, clutter mitigation, and electronic protection.

Skills you will need...

Required Skills:

  • Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and hold a Secret clearance
  • Candidates must possess at least a bachelor of science (BS) degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Candidates must have at least 6 years of experience (4 years with a Masters, 2 years with a PhD) in the design of, or analysis of RF sensor systems, seekers, or electronic warfare systems.
  • Strong people skills and technical leadership experience are a must.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn rapidly and work independently and on a team

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Experience performing RF system modeling, performance prediction, and data analysis
  • Experience with digital signal processing and/or digital beam forming
  • Familiarity with electronic attack and protection techniques
  • Radar engineering analysis, including the use of Blake charts
  • Focal plane array designs (including AESA) and analysis
  • Strong Matlab, Python, and C++ skills
