Axient’s Space Specialty Technical Services business unit is seeking a deputy project manager to serve current and future contracts in the NASA JSC, and Commercial Space market.  The successful candidate is expected to serve in both a contract direct technical role in support of current contracts and will serve in a business unit leadership role with a focus on managing and expanding existing and prospective highly specialized technical services, primarily focused in support of NASA and Commercial Space customers.  The ideal candidate will have in depth NASA and/or commercial space related experience and be passionate about human spaceflight and space science and related technologies and innovations, with exceptional collaboration and communication skills.

What you will do...

The successful candidate will serve as the Axient resident technical opportunity development lead for the NASA JSC and commercial space market, with a focus on relationship and opportunity development in collaboration with Axient Growth representatives, and providing management oversight of performance on existing contracts.    

Skills you will need...

Required:

  • Degree in engineering or related technical field is required from an ABET or equivalent accredited university with subsequent demonstrated, relevant technical project / program experience; BS with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience; MS with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience; PhD with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • NASA Subject Matter Expertise in one or more technical or programmatic disciplines
  • Demonstrated leadership in project / element / system level responsibilities for complex aerospace systems.
  • Experience in the formulation and implementation of NASA flight hardware programs
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relations, and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, effective team player with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplined dynamic team environment

 

Desired:

  • Experience in human rated spaceflight hardware design, development, integration, test and evaluation
  • Experience in full life cycle International Space Station payloads / experiment processing
  • Experience in space science and technology development and/or mission support
  • Experience supporting NASA / Industry partnerships related to space science or technology
  • Extensive knowledge and working relationship experience with NASA JSC Engineering and/or International Space Station program office
  • Leadership experience with diverse and geographically dispersed teams

Multi-element cross program integration experience in support of Level 1 and Level 2 requirements
