Overview

We are seeking an individual to join the Axient Corp team in supporting a Department of Defense customer as a Special Operations Space Senior Project Leader.  Axient is the prime contractor on a Space Sustainment/Program Management support contract providing direct support (onsite) to the 1st Joint Special Operations Air Component Command (Space) office in Colorado Springs, CO.  The office focus’ on bringing new and unique space capabilities to bear for Special Operations Forces through the rapid acquisition, operational integration, and sustainment of space based and space enabled capabilities.  We are looking for an individual with tactical COCOM experience (as a civilian, military, or contractor) within the following organizations: DoD Joint Staff, US Space Command, US Space Force, US Special Operations Command, Joint Special Operations Command, or the Intelligence Community.  Recent experience or working knowledge of the following topics will make the candidate more competitive: space launch, national overhead systems, space-based architecture, DOD/IC space systems, space command and control, space system employment, space communications, space-based data transport, special operations missions, special operation forces.  Duties will be performed primarily onsite within secure facilities in the Colorado Springs CO, currently at Schriever SFB and will involve some US and overseas travel. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

 

  • Provide the customer with project management support over a diverse portfolio of space projects, development, operational integration, sustainment.
  • Coordinate across various Space, Intelligence, and Special Ops units, National Labs, Interagency Organizations, to define emergent space requirements and identify novel space capabilities which may support the SOF mission sets.
  • Collaborate with various technology development companies and UERC/FFRDC, to support the program office and the 1st JSOAC modernization efforts.
  • Serve as a Senior Project Leader, providing programmatic updates to the Government Program Manager (PM) to include performance factors such as cost, schedule, and delivery; host/attend technical exchange meetings, program milestones, program management reviews, test and demonstrations.
  • Travel to US and Overseas military installations, ranges, laboratories, and commercial sites, to support operational integration and sustainment of 1st JSOAC space capabilities.
  • Support the PM in the accountability of government equipment across the life cycle, to include procurement, deployment, use, and disposition of unclassified and classified/SOF unique systems.
  • Prepare executive level briefings, white papers, RFI responses, project proposals, and correspondence and deliver updates on behalf of the government when tasked.
  • Provide support to the government in preparing short term and long-term budgets, requirements worksheets,  financial documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, logistics, or related fields OR 10 of experience in DoD, IC, IA operations, acquisition, logistics, program management
  • 5 years of experience in providing program management/project management/contract management to the DoD (SOF/USSOCOM preferred)
  • Understanding of Special Operations Forces, organizations, capabilities; missions; Space Forces, organizations, capabilities, missions and terminology and concepts
  • Ability to support full time (5 days/40hrs) onsite at Schriever SFB, CO, Peterson SFB, CO, Ft Carson CO, or Government leased facilities in Colorado Springs, CO

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, engineering (electrical), logistics, or related fields
  • Past assignment or recent experience with Joint Special Operations Command; USSC, USSF, USSOCOM
  • Experience with DoD Planning Programing Budgeting and Execution cycles and subordinate tasks
  • Experience with US Army, financial systems, logistics systems, property accountability systems

 

Travel

  • This position will require overnight travel up to 15% of the time CONUS and OCONUS. Trip durations may range from overnight to several weeks.

 

Clearance

  • Only candidates who currently possess an active Top Secret / SCI clearance will be considered. Clearance must be at least 1 year away from next 5 year update. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.  Applicants for positions which require DoD security clearance must meet eligibility requirements to include US citizenship.
