Overview

Axient is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Software Maintenance Facility (SMF) lab and IBM mainframe and peripheral equipment to support the Product Support Facility (PSF) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support contract.

Responsibilities

The technician will be responsible for performing regular preventative maintenance inspections on the Defense Support Program Mobile (DSP), and DSPFixed systems equipment.

 

Specific duties include:

 

• Initiating repair actions.

 

• Maintaining a daily running log for Software Maintenance Equipment (SME).

 

• Maintaining communications with system users and system administrator to facilitate identification of needs and solutions that result in timely deliveries to external customers

 

• Troubleshooting failures using proper Technical Orders, schematics, and test equipment to the failing Line Replaceable Unit (LRU). May also nclude removal, repair and/or replacment of faulty LRU to ensure proper operations

 

• Must be knowledgeable in setting up test equipment, (i.e., Oscilloscopes, Digital volt meters, spectrum analyzers etc...)

 

• Manufacturing and installing infrastructure communications cabling from the computer floor servers to the user’s location following proper security procedures.

 

• Running diagnostics to ensure proper operation of equipment.

 

• Maintaining and operating the M3P Antenna for the SBIRS program.

 

• Operating the IBM 7060 Multiprise 3000 S/390 CPU mainframe using MVS/JES2 Commands.

 

• Verifying correct peripheral allocation using MVS/JES2 Commands. Assisting in supporting the computer operation and media library as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

• Team work, communication skills,  familiarity with mission goals, and single-minded focus on customer satisfaction.

• Diligence when working with classified media and documents to ensure protection and proper disposition

• Be able to rotate every three weeks on a standby roster to cover after hours support for equipment failures and emergency coverage for second shift operator.

• Able to cover other positions as required per the contract.

 

Education: Minimum AAS in one of the following: Electronic Technology, Computer Maintenance, Computer Science or IT.

 

Experience: Five to ten years of practical experience
