SYSTEMS ENGINEERING GROUP, Inc. (SEG) has a position available for an engineer or a scientist to conduct threat ballistic and cruise missile design and analysis studies.

What you will do...

Responsibilities:

 

  • For major missile modeling efforts, the candidate will assist in characterization, documentation, and implementation of overall missile (ballistic and cruise) system design in support of various defense initiatives and customers.
    • These tasks include gathering and disseminating intelligence information, development of initial system characterization, development of modeling effort planning across technical disciplines, performing initial design studies and analysis to identify and close any identified gaps, and documentation of efforts.

 

  • Throughout major modeling efforts the candidate will support the multidisciplinary technical team developing missile models through coordination and design decision making to ensure a coherent model is developed.
    • Candidate will support initial modeling efforts including top level task planning reviews, planning of milestone review dates and internal dependencies.
    • Candidate will track technical dependencies and hand-offs to internal and external stakeholders and modelers throughout the model development process.
    • Candidate will support milestone reviews (both combined and discipline specific) in both chart development, review, presentation to the customer and execution of action items from milestone reviews.
    • Candidate will capture decision making, intelligence and engineering inputs and communications with customers, intelligence community, and modeling teammates for internal and external use.
    • Candidate will coordinate internal and externally with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, national labs, and the intelligence community.

 

  • When not supporting major missile modeling efforts, the candidate will perform analysis efforts supporting multiple customers using intelligence products and available models and data.
    • Candidate will perform analysis comparing intelligence information to existing data for various uses and purposes.
    • Candidate will develop and present briefings capturing analysis, intelligence information and technology trends.
    • Candidate will perform studies and initial modeling efforts in support of various customer needs on quick turn tasking with limited scopes.
    • Candidate will generate specification documentation and files to capture threat characterizations as needed for various customers in the customer appropriate formats.

Skills you will need...

Required Skills:

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics and Statistics. 
  • 2-5 years of experience.
  • Analytical thinking and creative problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in MATLAB or Python.
  • Proven performance in conducting Independent Research. 
  • Strong skills in computer programming and conducting experiments.
  • Strong organization and data management.
  • The candidate must be a US citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in STEM.
  • Linux programming and scripting proficiency. 
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g. SVN or Git). 
  • Familiarity with a software ticketing system (e.g. JIRA).
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current Secret or Top Secret clearance.
