Launch Mission Management Specialist

 

Axient's Launch and Safety Unit is recruiting highly talented candidates to support a contract that provides cradle to grave support to the United States Space Force Assured Access to Space National Security Space Launch (NSSL). We assist the Space Force by supporting a multitude of areas, including Systems Engineering & Integration, Acquisition & Program Management Support, Mission Integration Management, System Safety & Environmental Engineering, Systems Security & Information Assurance, Launch Schedule and Risk Management, Certification of New Entrant Launch Vehicles. Axient is actively seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Mission Management Specialist to join our team in the El Segundo, CA area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manifest recommendations to Space Command for Space Vehicles that meet NSSL mission requirements
  • Work along side Government personnel and support contractors on multi-payload missions for all Space Vehicle manifests. 
  • Screen potential Space Vehicle candidates prior to making recommendations to Space Force to ensure confidence in Space Vehicle maturity and ability to make it through Initial Launch Capability.
  • Make recommendations to Space Vehicle companies looking to launch on NSSL missions
  • Manage mission assurance process and procedural training, including launch flow activities, maintenance oversight standards and practice, and other launch operations.
  • Interpret, decompose, and capture launch payload interface requirements
  • Verify and validate launch, payload, and mission requirements
  • Effectively communicate with multiple DoD and LSP organizations to gather data and status
  • Develop, track, maintain, and communicate technical progress and schedule of missions
  • Provide and present weekly technical status reports
  • Develop products for and support flight worthiness review and approval

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering Space Systems, Science, or Management is acceptable. 2 years of experience can be substituted with an MS Degree.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience of launch and range systems training, safety and environmental factors, launch systems maintenance processes and policies, quality control, launch and range operations, space and launch vehicle resource, program management and successful mission assurance practice and policy.
• Demonstrated competency in Microsoft tools including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Information Technology (IT) systems and SharePoint-type databases.
• Systems engineering fundamentals with respect to requirements and requirements verification
• Active DoD Secret Clearance
• Experience working with senior level DoD leadership in a Program Office environment.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve quality issues effectively.
• Initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, successful collaboration with multiple agencies and personnel, excellent oral and written communication skills.
