Axient LLC. is seeking a Space Technology - Senior Engineering Operations Management Analyst to provide support to the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) Space Vehicles directorate (AFRL/RV), and Space Force staff in the management of various operational energy and logistics related projects. This position will be based out of our Arlington VA office but can be remote. 

 

We are seeking a skilled professional leader, with a strong Space and military background, to include skills in engineering management and oversight, logistics, operational energy, nuclear technology, and project management support experience.

What you will do...

  • Work will include supporting the AFRL/RV staff and the Pentagon Space Force Staff in the management oversight of Space project. Work will be in coordination with the AFRL, HQ Space Force staffs, and to support these staffs in the presentation of these projects to USSPACECOM and the OSD Operational Energy Innovation staff if and as needed.  
  • Work may include support to AFRL/RV and the HQ USSF staff in the management of operational energy projects, to include, nuclear, chemical, and photovoltaic, and other forms of energy. 
  • The Axient engineering manager must be able to support the government customer in the development of such a system(s) and support operationalizing the platform in stable orbits.
  • The project goals are to 1) develop long-endurance, continuous power source that provides uninterruptible power for Space operations, including power and maneuver 2) increased efficiency of propulsion and power system(s) to be efficient, compact leading to space qualified electric propulsion system, platform power, and beamed power if/as may be possible.
  • Deliverables include, supporting the government in gathering, oversight, communications, and staffing of 1) objective and threshold operations requirement document; 2) Written reports for demonstrations, to include a space energy strategy and space nuclear power; 3) a demonstration test plan – including metrics for TRL 5 and TRL 6 operational in-orbit demo; 4) integrated prototype satellites, that may include for example, an optical payload, and nano-FEEP thrusters; 5) energy and climate data report developed by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory; and 6) modeling and simulation report, including wargaming, detailing the impact to the warfighter; and other tasks as assigned.
  • The senior engineer manager must have skills to 1) communicate clearly, 2) work well with government and commercial engineers and interface across the HQ US Space Force, AFRL and Space Systems Command staffs, USSPACECOM, and as needed with Office of the Secretary of Defense offices.

 

Skills you will need...

- BS in Space and STEM related fields

- Minimum of 15 years of space and missile experience, including Space/missile operartions and project management, to include spacelift, policy, planning & programming.

- Must have current active TS/SCI clearance or above.

- MS in engineering management and/or STEM related fields is preferred

Position includes travel 10-20% of time, field work, potentially at Space launch locations on unimproved surfaces, and the lifting and moving of hardware components and couriering documents and components as needed.
