Overview

Axient is seeking an Reentry Vehicle Test Engineer - ICBM to support our customer at Hill AFB in Utah. 

Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support to the ICBM Combined Test Force (CTF) Lead Developmental Test & Evaluation Organization (LDTO) in development test and evaluation (DT&E) activities for AF Nuclear Weapons Center missile systems.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report through multiple program acquisition phases for Mk21A Reentry Vehicle Program.
  • Provide strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to CTF and program office staff;
  • Develop overall test strategies needed to assess whether vehicle will meet stated requirements with focus on system level integration and flight testing.
  • Provide detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvement and optimization development efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues.
  • Generate and compile information to detail radio frequency characterization considerations in system testing.
  • Support developmental test & evaluation oversight and test witnessing of the reentry vehicle and other related aerovehicle equipment components as may be assigned.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ITTs as appropriate to advocate for Reentry System/Reentry Vehicle test capabilities.
  • Coordinate intent and direction regularly with CTF counterparts in AFOTEC, the program office and the Prime contractor team
  • Maintain cognizance of all assigned CTF/Test Team engineering activities.
  • Assess test support and systems integration progress and trends of testing, identify problems and areas of concern for assigned systems.  
  • Provide technical support and advocate integrated approaches to support test activities for which existing guidelines may not be available or applicable.
  • Serve as a test team participant in the development of overall plans such as the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), System Test Plan (STP), Developmental Test (DT) Report, recommendation for IOT&E readiness, and other technical documents.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance at the required level.  An active and transferrable DoD security clearance with active investigation is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in related field such as ME, AE, EE or Physics.  A Master's is highly desired.
  • Must be familiar with ICBM systems and preferably  reentry systems and vehicles.
  • Over 3 years of experience required, some of which includes test and evaluation.  Sufficient additional experience can be substituted for education beyond the Bachelor’s level.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing for shock and vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC, and/or integration/flight testing is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams is highly desired.
  • Work is timely, efficient and of acceptable quality. Completed work meets project/program objectives.
  • Personal and organizational interactions exhibit and foster cooperation and teamwork, enhance customer relations, and actively promote rapport with customers.
  • Verbal and written communications are clear, concise, and at appropriate level.
  • Utilize resources effectively to accomplish mission, including ability to work effectively alone, unsupervised, or within a group.  
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Focused adherence to safety and security requirements.
  • Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with ICBM weapon systems and related subsystems/equipment, their projected use in the military, and methods of testing is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with ground and flight test conduct, data analysis/evaluation, modeling and simulation, technical report preparation, and administrative aspects of ground and flight test programs is highly desired.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
